Bonus Module vs Standalone Product: Which One Should You Use?

08/19/2024

You're looking to surprise and delight your customer but not sure whether you should use a bonus module or a standalone product? Don't worry, we got you! We break it down for you below to help you decide 🙌

⚡️ Use a bonus module when:

- you want that visual “you can unlock this!” benefit inside your product (this is great for products where people drop off, like memberships, courses, and challenges)

- the reward is something small- the reward is hyper-specific to the product they’re in, and wouldn’t make sense to use as a bonus or reward for anything else

- you want to add it in quickly

⚡️ Use a standalone product when:

- you want it to feel even more valuable

- you know you could use this for other incentives, bonuses, or as a low-cost offer

- you have a little extra time to create the product (but don’t over complicate, it can still be very simple)

------------

There is zero reason you can’t start with it as a bonus module, and then grow it out into its own low-cost product — ie 3 wallpapers as a bonus module, but then it comes with 12 wallpapers + X and Y for $9

And then the bonus module can become a cross-sell opportunity.

“Yay! You unlocked 3 of my awesome wallpapers to help you X and Y. Love these and want more? Here’s a 50% off code for my [full wallpaper low-cost product]”

Def do a celebration when they unlock the bonus module. 🎉

Here's what the Celebration Action setup looks like:

And here's what your members see on their end:

You also can tag people when they unlock the bonus module and send them a celebration email (and nurture them on the cross-sell) too.
